Born in Brussels in 1954, Philippe Geluck is a multidisciplinary artist: cartoonist, humorist, TV and radio commentator, as well as painter and sculptor. On 22 March 1983, he invented Le Chat for the newspaper Le Soir. The feline quickly won over the general public. More than 8,000 drawings have been published in the Belgian daily, and the hero has also found his place in the international press. 25 albums of Le Chat have been published by Casterman, along with six best-of books, numerous texte books and three exhibition catalogues. Through the deadpan humour and characteristic phlegm of his anti-hero, Geluck makes us laugh, think about the big questions that plague us and introduces young and old to the emblematic works of Art History. Since the major Le Chat s'expose exhibition in 2003 Geluck's drawings, paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in numerous galleries and contemporary art fairs. Today, the artist is preparing the opening of the Musée du Chat et du dessin d'humour in Brussels.
