The mythology of Saint Tropez can be summed up in a few essential landmarks: its port, its sublime gulf, Brigitte Bardot, and the red terrace of the Café Sénéquier. Originally a pastry shop, it became a café in 1930, and took off with the advent of the international fame of the seaside resort at the turn of the 50s. Mr. Z sketches with a glowing humor the little weakness and favorite pastime of some of his customers.
Richard Zielenkiewicz, known as Monsieur Z, is a French illustrator and graphic designer living in the south of France. He studied at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Graphiques Estienne and then obtained a DESS in computer graphics at the University Marc Bloch / Strasbourg. He has worked as an Art Director for major communication agencies. He also worked in the press as an art director. In 1998, he became a freelance illustrator and worked for Wallpaper* magazine, then Vogue Japon, Casa Brutus, Monsieur, Elle, Cosmo, Esquire, etc. Mainly known today for his colorful, pure illustrations inspired by Mid-Century design and architecture, he is the author of several animated TV series such as Ratz, Jet Groove.
