Paulo Mariotti
DESERT KAUFMANN HSE
Paulo Mariotti (re)visits the most famous of the Californian villas: the Kaufmann Desert House, all the more coveted since it was recently put up for sale.
Erected in 1946, its architect Richard Neutra was inspired by the fundamentals of the Bahaus while building a new aesthetic where concrete, steel and glass respond to the lunar landscape of Palm Spring.
The pure lines of the residence extend into the peaks of San Jacinto, without any human presence to disturb this desert.
A panorama between shadow and light, transparency and opacity, for an invitation to luxury, calm and voluptuousness.
