Tribute to Our Lady on the cover of the New Yorker of April 29, 2019. Two weeks earlier the Parisian cathedral had suffered a devastating fire that took the famous spire of Viollet-le-Duc as well as its vault and roof frame, a veritable forest... Under Bob Staake's pen, the two towers stand up against all odds, unchanging. The light from the fire passes through the rose window where the fragile silhouettes of the two angels and the virgin with child stand out.
